Australian custard apples are mostly grown in the tropical and sub-tropical regions along Australia’s eastern seaboard. Production areas extend from the Atherton Tablelands in far north Queensland down to Alstonville in northern New South Wales.
The season runs from late February to early November with the peak period of production between April to July.
There are two main varieties of custard apples grown in Australia: Pinks Mammoth & African Pride.
Australian custard apples are usually packed in single layers trays that hold between 6 to 8 kg of fruit.
